Sessions

How to Embed Sustainability into IT Procurement Processes

Case Study

Friday, December 05

09:50 am - 10:20 am

Live in Chicago

Less Details

Sustainability in IT procurement often starts with good intentions—but without clear mechanisms, it risks becoming a checkbox exercise. This session explores how sustainability can be firmly anchored at two critical stages: during the RFP process and throughout supplier follow-up. We’ll look at practical ways to define meaningful sustainability requirements in tenders, how to determine the right weighting compared to commercial and technical criteria, and how to assess supplier responses in a structured way. The session also covers how to track suppliers’ sustainability commitments after contracts are signed—moving from promises to measurable progress. Concrete tools, examples, and templates will help translate strategy into action. In this session you will learn:

  • How can IT procurement teams define and structure sustainability criteria in RFx documents?
  • What questions should be asked to evaluate a supplier’s true sustainability practices?
  • How can organizations decide on the right weighting for sustainability versus other decision factors?
  • What methods and metrics can be used to track and report on supplier sustainability performance post-contract?
